How to crack ONGC exam?

  • Vaishali, here are some coolest tips which will help you in cracking the ONGC exam -
    1.       Cover the syllabus fully without leaving any considerable portion, as it may turn out that many questions might arise from the units which we might have not touched.
    2.       Refer to standard text books for the portion given. One good book for aptitude is the one written by the famous R.S Aggarwal who has comprehensively put the aptitude sections in lucid style.
    3.       For the English section and general awareness, along with any standard books, which are plenty in the market, refer to other competitive exam question papers as you would get a broad idea of what might be asked.
    4.       Practice as many problems as possible and cover as many different types and situations few problems as possible. This would enable you to comprehend the question asked quickly in short time.
    5.       In exams like these, speed and accuracy hold the key. You have to enhance your speed of answering the question also you have to be accurate in answering the correct answers.
    6.       Refer to other exam question papers like the GATE/CSAT/Bank PO etc for both practice and to get an idea of what might be asked. The UPSC has a store of previous questions hosted on its website which is a good collection of English and Aptitude question papers.
    For the technical part of the exam, the questions expected would be of the GATE exam level or even below that. We would have read about those topics in our engineering courses, all we need now is a proper revision of those courses.
    For the psychometric test and interview test, one has to develop their personality holistically. Communications, general knowledge, problem – solving, technical background are the broad areas one has to focus upon for personality development. The GTT has also put a Group Discussion stage for assessing the performance. One is not unaware of this process as we would have known this since our graduation itself. All we need is a grasp in current affairs. Most engineers now practice the habit of reading newspapers regularly. This would be much helpful for us and what we need is practice through mock GDs to gear ourselves

  • ONGC is an elite company in India, Getting a placement at ONGC, would be a ticket for a hassle-free life for any engineer and for some non-engineers. Getting into ONGC you need two things, general knowledge, and technical knowledge. as most of the people can compete and come near you at technical knowledge,so prove yourself in general knowledge paper. I would suggest u start reading the newspaper as most questions are from current affairs, some on business and other your engineering background. you have to apply which department you want to enter in ONGC and you will be having a paper on it
