TCS NQT Exam Pattern, Insights and Details



Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) is conducting National Qualifier Test (NQT) for the hiring process under TCS Ninja. Earlier, it was time and resource consuming when TCS used to hire the freshers on the basis of region and conducts the exam region wise. Now, TCS has come up with NQT under the name of TCS Ninja hiring. As per the eligibility criteria, the candidate must have a B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech – All Specializations degree from recognized university/institution. The selection process will consist of three rounds- Written Test, Technical Interview and Personal Interview. The written test will be of 90 minutes and will consist of three sections- English, Quantitative Aptitude and Programming Concepts & Coding.

Educational Qualification/Skills

  • The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in  B.E/B.Tech/M.E/M.Tech – All Specializations M.Sc – Computer Science/Information Technology and other related disciplines | MCA with B.Sc/BCA/B.Com/BA (with Mathematics/ Statistics) from recognized university/institution.
  • The candidate must have achieved 60% marks throughout 10th, 12th and graduation.
  • The candidate must not have back log more than 1 at the time of appearing for the test.
  • The candidate must not have education gap more than 2 years.
  • The candidate must have good communication skills.
  • The candidate must have the knowledge about his/her concerned field.

  • The written test is in online mode.
  • The exam will consist of 41 questions.
  • There is sectional timing.
  • The exam will be of 90 minutes.
  • There is no sectional cut off.
  • There is no negative marking of 0.33.
  • The medium of the questions will be English.

Quantitative Aptitude

Number system, HCF & LCM, Time, Speed & Distance, Mixtures & Alligations, Time & Work, Percentages, Permutation & Combination, Profit & Loss, Functions, Series & Progression, Equations, Blood Relations, Algebra, Averages, Geometry, Clocks & Calendar

Programming Concepts

Iteration, recursion, procedural vs OOp., C Language: call by value/reference, basic and derived data types, storage class, scope and visibility, basics of pointers, basic header files, library functions, branching and looping, command line arguments, user-defined functions.

Algorithms:
Basic search algorithms, basic sort algorithms (tree traversal, dynamic programming, etc)

Data Structures:
Array, Stack, Queue, List  (tree, hash table, etc)

Coding

The coding would be of a basic level.

English

Sentence completion using appropriate options.

Preparation tips for TCS NQT: For Written Test/Interview

·         You need to finish two sections of TCS NQT within 90 minutes, which means you need speed with accuracy in order to attempt 41 questions in total. The more you practice, the better chances you have of acing this exam.

·         Make technical section your strong suit, practice questions to solve them within time to increase efficiency.

·         Remember negative marking is a factor here. Therefore, do not try to attempt those questions which put you in doubt.
