What will happen if xylem is placed in pure water

1 it swells up and behave like fountain 2 it shrinks and its wall collapse 3 it bursts like RBC, when placed in water 4 nothing happen at all

4 will be the answer as it can be taken s ....it transports water in plant and also suberised.. so water cant affect it
