What will happen if xylem is placed in pure water

1 it swells up and behave like fountain 2 it shrinks and its wall collapse 3 it bursts like RBC, when placed in water 4 nothing happen at all

I know that if a plant cell is kept in distilled or pure water endo osmosis occurs but there is no change in size of the cell due to the rigid cell wall I feel the same will go for xylem

  • Rigid wall hai toh osmosis nahi ho sakta.....sarasar galat baat kahi hai..... Xylem is a dead cell and and plasmolysis occurs in living cell is right statement...
