WBJEE Exam Details, Eligibility Criteria, Previous Year Question Papers Download



WBJEE or West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination is State government level test conducted by West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination Board for admissions to around 104 Private and Government Engineering Institutions in West Bengal. The test is taken by 10+2 students for admissions to various UG courses. The test is divided into two papers, Paper 1: Mathematics and Paper 2: Physics & Chemistry. Durability is 2 hours each for both the papers. Both the papers are divided into 3 categories, each consist of Multiple type Questions. In Mathematics there are 75 Questions whereas in Physics and Chemistry 40 Questions each. A candidate will be given 2 hours to complete each paper.

Important Dates of WBJEE:

  • The Online Registration starts from 18 Oct 2019.
  • The Online Registration Last Date is 13 Nov 2019.
  • The WBJEE exam date is 2 Feb 2020
  • The WBJEE exam’s result will be declared in June 2020.


Note: The results declared will tell who will go for further WBJEE Counselling exam. The cut-off will be based upon the merit list which will vary on the basis of category (SC/ ST/OBC/General/PH).

Exam Pattern of WBJEE:
Type:
 paper based test.
Duration: The duration of the paper WBJEE exam will be of 150 minutes.
No. of Questions: 155 Objective type questions.
Syllabus Covered:  PAPER 1: physics &
chemistry, PAPER 2: mathematics.
Marking Scheme: Vary for each category and 0.25 will be deducted for every wrong answer.

Syllabus of WBJEE Entrance Exam:

Mathematics – It will have 75 questions carrying 100 marks. However, the syllabus comprises of Algebra, Trigonometry, Co-ordinate Geometry of two Dimensions, Co-Ordinate Geometry of three Dimensions and Calculus.

Chemistry – It will have 40 questions carrying 50 Marks. However, the syllabus comprises of Atoms, Molecules & Chemical Arithmetic, Atomic Structure, Radioactivity and Nuclear Chemistry, The Periodic Table and Chemical Families, Environmental Chemistry, Chemical Bonding & Molecular Structure, Coordination Compounds, Chemistry of Metals, Chemical Energetic & Chemical Dynamics, Physical Chemistry of Solutions and Chemistry in Industry.

Physics – It will have 40 questions carrying 50 Marks. However, the syllabus comprises of Physical World, Measurements, Units & Dimensions, Atomic Physics, Nuclear Physics, Solid State Electronics, Optics (II) Wave Optics, Gravitation, Thermodynamics, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Power, Energy, Oscillations & Waves, Electrostatics, and Magnetics, Heat and Thermal Physics, Magnetics, Optics I and much more.

Tips and Tricks for WBJEE:

With people applying for WBJEE is in Lakhs, it became really difficult to blow but all you need to do is follow these tricks and tips to flourish:

•You must also have the full awareness of Maths so consult NCERT, Arihant and RD Sharma to prepare from them.
•You must also have the full understanding of Chemistry so consult NCERT, Arihant to prepare from them.
•You must have the full information of Physics, so consult NCERT and Arihant to prepare from them.
•Take Mock tests online to know your Strong points and Flaws
•Solve last years’ question papers in order to know what to expect and it will test your swiftness as well as exactness.
•The paper I & II will have ¼th negative markings and Paper III will have no negative markings.
•Prepare yourself for the time mastery in the exam so that you will able to finish well in time.
