SAAT Exam: Exam Pattern, Insights and Details



As per the latest developments, Siksha O Anusandhan University has made some changes in the scheduling of the SAAT 2019, an annual university level entrance test conducted to shortlist students for various UG and PG courses at the university’s Orissa campus. The changes announced are application form submission last date is April 26, 2020, SAAT will be held in two modes, that is, online and offline only in the month of May. The eligibility criteria set by the authorities is the candidate must be 10+2 passed with at least 45% marks in aggregate. The online exam will contain 120 questions in total, the exam medium will be English only and the subject areas of the entrance test will vary as per the course the student has applied for, while the duration of the test will be of two hours. SAAT Exam: Eligibility Criteria

  • Nationality / Citizenship:

The candidate must be an Indian Citizen.

  • Educational Qualification:

The candidate must have 12th or equivalent with 50% minimum percentage for some courses or 40% for other programmes, refer to the SAAT official notification for detailed criteria for all the courses offered by the University.

SAAT Exam: Exam pattern

The exam will be of 2 hours and the candidates are required to attempt 120 multiple-choice questions.

  • The exam will have 120 MCQs type questions

  • The total duration of the exam will be 120 minutes

  • The medium of language of the questions will be English

  • Sections in the exam will vary as per the course opted by the applicant

  • The online test will be for 480 marks

  • There is negative marking: 4 marks will be allotted for each right answer and 1 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.

Physics and Measurement, Kinematics, Laws of Motion, Work, Energy and Power, Rotational Motion, Gravitation, Properties of Solids and Liquids, Thermodynamics, Kinetic Theory of Gases, Oscillations and Waves, Electrostatics, Current Electricity, Magnetic Effects of Current and Magnetism, Electromagnetic Induction and Alternating Currents, Electromagnetic Waves, Dual Nature of Matter and Radiation, Atoms and Nuclei, Electronic Devices, Communication Systems

  • CHEMISTRY:

  • MATHEMATICS:

Preparation tips for SAAT Exam

  • You need to finish 3 sections or more of SAAT Exam within 120 minutes, which means you need speed with accuracy in order to attempt 120 questions in total. The more you practice, the better chances you have of acing this exam.

  • Make mathematics and physics your strong subjects, practice questions to solve them within time to increase efficiency. You should lay emphasis not on mugging up the formulas but instead try understanding the concepts, so, you can modify the formulas according to the question requirement.

  • Remember negative marking is a factor here. Therefore, try not to attempt those MCQs that put you in doubt.

  • Manage your time properly; give an appropriate amount of time to each section. Try to improve your time by practicing as many online tests as possible.
