The respiration taking place in absence of oxygen is called anaerobic respiration.It takes place in cytoplasm and muscle cells and produce 2 molecules of ATP(AdenosineTriPhosphate).When it takes place in muscle cells it forms lactic acid wich results in muscle cramps.
