  • West Bengal Police Constable: Selection process

    The exam for the police constable recruitment this year haven't been announced yet. Still you can have the idea about the selection procedure implemented for the candidates. West Bengal Police Constable recruitment process involves 5 stages that a candidate is required to clear for the job. The five stages are:

    1. Preliminary Written Test
    2. Physical Measurement Test (PMT)
    3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET)
    4. Final Written Exam
    5. Interview

    ► Preliminary Exam:
    1. The candidates will have to appear for an offline Preliminary Written Test that would be of qualifying nature.
    2. The exam will have 100 MCQs to be attempted in 1 hour.
    3. The question paper will be bilingual: Bengali & Nepali
    4. The section in the exam: three

    • General Awareness and General Knowledge for 50 Marks
    • Elementary Mathematics (Madhyamik standard) for 30 Marks
    • Reasoning for 20 Marks

    5. Marking scheme:  1 mark will be allotted for each correct answer. 0.25 marks will be deducted as a penalty for each wrong answer. 

    ►  Physical Measurement Test (PMT):

    1. Candidates of all categories (except  Gorkhas, Garhwalies, Rajbanshis and  Scheduled Tribes): Height 167 cms, Weight 57 kgs, Chest 78 – 83 cms
    2. Gorkhas, Garhwalies, Rajbanshis and Scheduled Tribes: Height 160 cms, Weight 53 kgs, Chest 76 – 81 cms

    ► Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

    The candidates who will qualify prelims and PMT will appear for Physical Efficiency Test (PET), which will test the physical strength of the candidates, which consists of 1600 (Sixteen hundred) meters run within 06 (six) minutes 30 (thirty) seconds.

    ► Final Written Exam:


    1. The WB Police Constable Recruitment Final Written Exam will be Written Objective Type.
    2. The Exam Will be of 85 Questions to be attempted in 1 hour.
    3. Marking scheme:  1 mark will be allotted for each correct answer. 0.25 marks will be deducted as a penalty for each wrong answer.
    4. the questions will be asked from the following sections:
    •  General Awareness and General Knowledge  25 Marks
    •  English  25 Marks
    •  Elementary Mathematics (Madhyamik standard)    20 Marks
    •  Reasoning and Logical Analysis    15 Marks

    ► Interview:

    The shortlisted candidates after the final written exam will be called for the interview. The interview will carry 15 marks.
