effect of armature flux on main field flux is known as armature reaction. we know field winding of dc machine play vital role for over all operation. when both winding energised then armature winding give two effects on field winding i.e cross and demagnitizing effect. cross effect distorted field winding while demagnising effect reduce the voltage.
