Eligibility Criteria: TNPSC Group-1 Exam

Educational Qualification:

  • One should have a graduation degree from a renowned college or institution.
  • Final Year Students of Graduation can also apply for the examination.
  • Aspirants for Group-1 Exam should be proficient in the Tamil language.

Age Limit:

  • Candidate for the examination should be in the age group of 21-32 years.
  • Age Relaxation: SC/ST/OBC category students can apply with an upper age limit of 37 years. Also, age relaxation for 10 years has been provided to the PWD category and upper age limit of 52 years for ex-servicemen category students.

 

Exam Pattern:

The exam of TNPSC Prelims Exam consists of 200 Questions carrying 300 marks with the time limit of 3 hours:

  • General Studies: It will comprise of 150 questions like Indian Heritage and culture, History, Geography of the world and India, Government, constitution, Indian Polity, Social Justice, International Relations, Technology, Bio-Diversity, Environment, Disaster Management, Economic Development and much more.
  • Aptitude & Mental Ability Test: It will comprise of 50 questions like word power, analogies, sentence corrections and verbal reasoning, Athematic computation, blood relations, visual memory, syllogism, problem-solving, number solving & problem-solving skills. number system, HCF, LCM, Simplification, Decimals & fractions, ratio & proportion, unitary method, percentage, time & distance, time & work, profit & loss, simple & compound interest, and Algebra.
  • General Training/General English: It will comprise questions like grammar, vocabulary, sentence structure, synonyms-Antonyms, reading comprehension, and para jumbles, which author said it, poems, novels and much more.

Note: The results declared will tell who will go for further TNPSC Main exam. The cut-off will be based upon the merit list which will vary on the basis of the category (SC/ ST/OBC/General/PH).

  • Zoology:

Blood and Blood Circulation, Endocrine System, Reproductive System, Health and Hygiene, Biodiversity and its conservation

  • Current Events:

History, Latest diary of events, Profile of states, Eminent persons and places, Sports and Games, Books and Authors

  • Political Science:

Political System of India, Election commission of India, Public awareness and general administration, Constitution of India, Foreign Policies and international relation, Parliament of India and Assembly elections of Tamil Nadu

  • Geography:

Oceans, Livable planet of the universe, Our solar system, Earth, Rocks, Rivers, Climate changes in Southern India, Wildlife centuries of India and TN

Indian and Tamil Nadu State economy, Five-year planning commission reports and effects, Land reforms and accusation bills, Role of HRD of India in the economy, GDP, FDI, NSI of India
