A projectile is an object that is given an initial velocity, and is acted on by gravity. The path the object follows is called its trajectory. Thetrajectory has horizontal (x) and vertical (y) position components.
Within the practical sciences, applied mechanics is useful in formulating new ideas and theories, discovering and interpreting phenomena, and developing experimental and computational tools.
