  • let x kg be the amount of salt... 
    cost price = 42x+24*25 
    selling price = 40(x+25) 
    profit = 25% 
    so 
    (SP - CP)/CP = 25% 

    => 40x + 1000 - 42x - 600 = .25 
    on solving we get 
    x = 20kg
