Who conducts the GATE? What is the duration of the exam?

  • GATE exam is conducted by the main eight IITs IISc. every year one of them will take the liability of conducting the exam. Duration of the exam is 3 hours. Exam pattern is for 100 marks of 65 questions. 15 marks are allotted to general aptitude and rest 85 marks are of respective discipline. further there are 2 types of questions one is objective type questions where 4 options are given for a question and one of which or sometimes even 2 options are correct. other type of questions is NAT ( numerical answer type) questions where only question is given and we have to answer using given calculator. there will be a range in which our answer should lie. further there is negative marking for wrong answers in 1 and 2 marks questions. in paper there will be 30 one mark questions and 35 two marks questions. 1/3rd marks deducted for wrong one mark answer and 2/3rd marks deducted for wrong 2 marks questions. any further queries are welcomed.
