AMU ET for BA: Eligibility Criteria

The Eligibility for Applying for AMU varies for each course. The age limit for various courses is mentioned below:

  • Senior Secondary School Certificate- 19 years

  • Diploma in Engineering- 21 years

  • Graduate Courses and other courses like Advance Diploma / Diploma / Certificate courses where the qualifying examination is Senior Secondary School Certificate or equivalent- 24 years

  • Postgraduate & other courses where the qualifying examination is graduation- 27 years

  • Postgraduate and other courses where the duration of the qualifying examination, after graduation, is one year- 28 Years

  • Postgraduate and other courses where the duration of the qualifying examination, after graduation, is two years- 29 years

  • Post PG Diploma Courses- 29 years

For B.A. AMU Entrance exam, the educational qualifications required are:

  • Candidates have a senior secondary school certificate from a recognized board, madarsa, institute from AMU or equivalent are eligible for the registration.

  • 50% aggregate marks in senior secondary exam.

AMU Entrance Test for B.A.: Syllabus

The syllabus for the entrance exam of B.A. by Aligarh Muslim University comprises of four sections testing the candidate's capability in different sections. The four sections are English, General Awareness and Current Affairs, Reasoning and Intelligence, and Indo-Islamic Culture and Aligarh Movement. The detailed syllabus goes like:

1. ENGLISH LANGUAGE:

 Comprehension of paragraph and sentence levels, identification of Common errors; grammar and usage; Vocabulary – world formation, synonyms, antonyms, pairing of words. Sentence Structure and construction, prepositions, completion of sentences.

2. GENERAL AWARENESS AND CURRENT AFFAIRS:

 Question will be based on the CBSE curriculum (SSSC level) covering the following topics : Indian Constitution; Political Theory; Indian Polity; Pre and Post Independence; Contemporary World Politics, Human Rights; Archaeology and Ancient India; History of Medieval and Modern India, Introductory World History; Human Geography; India : Introductory Physical Geography; Indian Physical Environment; Foundations of Psychology; Psychology, Self and Society; Games and Sports; Awards and Honours; Abbreviations and Acronyms; Prominent Books and Authors.

 3. REASONING AND INTELLIGENCE:

Verbal reasoning and verbal analogy, letter series, number series, syllogism, terms and prepositions.

4. INDO ISLAMIC CULTURE AND ALIGARH MOVEMENT:

Main tenets of Islam; Sufism and Bhakti Movement; Religious Coexistence: Akbar: Major Medieval Monuments; Encounter with Modern Culture: Sir Syed Ahmad Khan and his companions, Aligarh Movement”

AMU ET for BA: Tips and Tricks

  • Become smart by attempting questions that you are sure of first, then come to the questions you’re in doubt. But don’t attempt them anyway, remember negative marking is a factor here. Therefore, only attempt a question if you really know the answer to.

  • Manage your time properly; give an appropriate amount of time to each section. Try to improve your time by practicing as many online tests as possible.
