  • 1. Gram-positive bacteria have multilayered cell walls while gram-negative bacteria have single layered walls.
    2. Gram-positive bacteria gives purple color in a crystal violet dye while gram-negative bacteria don't react with crystal violet dye and also go reverse thus giving pinkish colored stain.
    3. Gram-negative bacteria are penicillin resistant whereas gram-positive bacteria responds to penicillin treatment.
