SBI CLERK Exam Pattern, Insights and Previous Year Papers

SBI (State Bank of India) is one of the oldest and most trusted Banks of India that offers recruitment to the youngsters who want to pursue their career in financial services. Through SBI CLERK Recruitment 2020, the bank will fill more than 8000 vacancies for Junior Associates and another 8600 plus vacancies through its Special Recruitment Drive. This Bank job is considered to be one of the most secured jobs in India. The Online Registration for the Exam will begin from 3 January, 2020 and will close by 26 January, 2020. The examination is conducted in two parts: first Preliminary exam and then Mains exam. Aspirants can appear for the mains only if they clear the Prelims round of the Exam. The Prelim examination will be conducted in 22 Feb, 29 Feb, 1 march, 8 march, 2020.   • Educational Qualifications: A valid degree in any discipline from a recognized university.
  • Age Limit: Not below 20 years and not above 28 years.

SBI Clerk Prelims Exam Pattern

Duration: The duration of the paper SBI CLERK exam will be of 60 minutes.
No. of Questions: 100 Objective type questions.
Syllabus Covered: English, Numerical ability and Reasoning ability.
Marking Scheme: 1 marks will be awarded for every correct answer and 0.25 will be deducted for every wrong answer.
Time Limit per Section: Candidates will be allotted exactly 20 minutes for each section.

SBI Clerk Mains Exam Pattern

Duration: The duration of the paper  will be of 160 minutes.
No. of Questions: 190 Objective type questions.
Syllabus Covered: Reasoning Abilty and computer aptitude, English, Quantitative aptitude, General awareness.
Marking Scheme: 1 marks will be awarded for every correct answer and 0.25 will be deducted for every wrong answer.
Time Limit per Section: Candidates will be allotted exactly 27 minutes for each section.

Syllabus for Different Sections:

General English: 
Reading comprehension including Synonyms and Antonyms, Sentence rearrangement or Para jumbles Sentence Correction / Error Finding, Spell Checks, Fillers and Cloze Test.

Quantitative Aptitude: Simplification, Number Series, Data Sufficiency, Data Interpretation, Quadratic Equations, Time and Work, Partnership, Profit and Loss, Measuration, Time, Distance and Speed – Trains, Boats n Streams, Simple and Compound interest, Mixture and Allegation , Ratio and Proportion, Percentages, Averages.

Reasoning Ability: Machine Input/output, Syllogism, Blood Relation, Direction Sense, Inequalities, Puzzles – Seating Arrangement, Floor puzzle, Coding Decoding, Ranking, Statement and Assumptions /Conclusions.

Computer Aptitude: Basics of computer, different generations, hardware/software, DBMS, Networking, Internet, MS Office and Shortcuts used in MS Offices, Input/output Devices, their types and important abbreviations.

General Awareness:  Current Affairs: News on Banking Industry, awards and honours, books and authors, latest appointments, obititaries, new schemes of central and state governments, sports etc.

Static GK: Country-capital, Country-currency, headquarters of financial organizations (of insurance companies), constituencies of ministers, dance forms, nuclear and thermal power stations etc.

Preparation Tips for SBI Clerk: For Prelims / Mains

•         You need to finish three sections of SBI Clerk Prelims within 60 minutes, which means you need speed with accuracy in order to attempt 100 questions in total. The more you practice, the better chances you have of acing this exam.
•         Make mathematics and reasoning your strong subjects, practice questions to solve them within time to increase efficiency. You should lay emphasis not on mugging up the formulas but instead try understanding the concepts, so, you can modify the formulas according to the question requirement.
•         Remember negative marking is a factor here. Therefore, try not to attempt questions that put you in doubt. Although, the prelim exam will be of just qualifying nature and won’t be considered for the final merit list as only Main exam marks will matter, but you still need to secure the minimum qualifying marks in the prelims as set by the Indian Bank.
•         Manage your time properly; give an appropriate amount of time to each section. Try to improve your time by practicing as many online tests as possible.
