RRB JE Exam Details, Pattern and Syllabus



Railway Recruitment Cell has organized the post of Junior Engineering which is selected by an online computer-based test. RRB Careers has many more posts for various vacancies in Indian Railways. Those candidates are eligible who are graduate with full-time 4 years B.E/B.Tech Degree in the field of civil, mechanical, automobile, electrical, manufacturing, instrumentation and control, production engineering. The application is to be filled in online mode only and it is advised that all interested candidates must go through the official RRB JE Recruitment 2018 notification available on the official website). There is no registration charge/ application fee for the examination. Age Limit to apply for the exam is between 21 years to 42 years, while age relaxation will as per the norms of the Railway Board.

Eligibility:

Education Qualification: There are four departments within the job post of Junior Engineer/ Drawing, Design & Estimation. The educational qualification for each department will vary as per the requirement of the RRC

·    For Electrical Department- Three years Diploma in (a) Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics Engineering or (b) a combination of any
sub stream of basic streams of Mechanical/ Electrical/Electronics Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.

·   For Civil Engineering Department- Three years Diploma in Civil Engineering or B.Sc in Civil Engineering of three years duration or a combination of any
sub stream of basic streams of Civil Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.

· For Mechanical Department: Three years Diploma in (a) Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/Manufacturing/Mechatronics/Industrial/Machining/Instrumentation & Control/ Tools &Machining/ Tools & Die Making/Automobile/Production Engineering or (b) a combination of any sub stream of basic streams of Mechanical/Electrical/Electronics/ Manufacturing/Mechatronics/Industrial/Machining/Instrumentation & Control/Tools & Machining/Tools & Die Making/Automobile/Production Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.

· For Signal & Telecom Department: Three years Diploma in (a) Electrical/Electronics/Information Technology/Communication Engineering/Computer Science and Engineering/Computer Science/Computer Engineering OR (b) a combination of any
sub stream of basic streams of Electrical/Electronics/Information Technology/Communication Engineering from a recognized University/Institute.

Age Limit

The maximum age limit for appearing in the GDCE will be 42 years for General candidates, 45 years for OBC candidates and 47 for SC/ST candidates reckoned as on the date of notification.

Exam Pattern:

Duration: The duration of the paper RRB JE exam will be of 120 minutes.
No. of Questions: 150 Objective type questions.
Syllabus Covered: English, Quantitative 
aptitude and Reasoning ability.
Marking Scheme: 1 marks will be awarded for every correct answer and 0.25 will be deducted for every wrong answer.

General Awareness

  • Polity, Books and Authors, Art and Culture, Awards and Honors, History, Geography, Current Affairs, General Science

General Intelligence and Reasoning

  • Direction Sense, Blood Relation, Statements and Conclusions, Puzzles, Classification, Statements and Arguments, Syllogism , Coding and Decoding, Series, Analogy, Non Verbal Reasoning

Arithmetic Reasoning

  • Probability, Profit and Loss, Speed Time and Distance, Simple Interest and Compound Interest, Mensuration, Time and Work, Mixtures and Alligation, Ratio and Proportion,  Average, Percentages

 

Tips and Tricks:
  • Increase Speed: Manage your time properly; give appropriate amount of time to each section. Try to improve your time by practicing as many online tests as possible.   • Improve Accuracy: Whatever new concepts you learn; make it a habit of practicing them regularly so you do not forget key topics. Because you will not have enough time to prepare all the syllabus topics proficiently, so you must master those you are comfortable with.

  • Use Time Intelligently: Studying in a stretch for hours can be tedious and hard and also not so good. Therefore, try to study at several times in regular sessions during a day.
