Symbiosis Entrance Test or SET is a university level entrance test for UG courses offered by SIU affiliated institutes. SET 2020  is scheduled for May 2. Candidates are advised to apply online before April 16, 2020. Candidates aspiring to join BA. LL.B / BBA. LL.B (Law Pragrams) have to take the Symbiosis Entrance Test (SET). From the year 2018 onwards, the SET - Law test became to be known as Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT). If shortlisted, he/she would then need to attend the further admission process cycle conducted by each of these institutes individually.

Negative Marking: SIU follows no negative marking scheme and thus, in case of wrong answers no marks will be deducted.

SET Law Cut Off 

After the announcement of the SET Law 2020 result, the Symbiosis Law Schools will determine the SET Law 2020 cutoff for qualifying the exam. Candidates with the score equal to or more than the cut off of SET Law will qualify and can attend the Personal Interview (PI) and Writing Ability Test (WAT) which are the next rounds of the selection process.

SET Law Counselling:

Symbiosis International University (SIU) will begin SET Law 2020 counselling for the first and second round from May 2020, after the conduct of the PI WAT round. The rounds of counselling of SET Law will depend on the number of seats available after the first round. After the announcement of results, shortlisted candidates will be called for the Personal Interview (PI) and Written Ability Test (WAT) rounds if they score the required cut off marks. Based on their performance in PI-WAT, the final merit lists will be issued which will be applicable for the counselling rounds. During SET law counselling, a candidate confirms his admission by booking a seat in the institute, paying the fee and getting the documents verified. The marks scored in both, PI-WAT and the SET Law rounds, will be given equal weightage i.e. 50% while assessing the scores of the candidates. Symbiosis Law Institute Pune will release minimum four merit lists while Symbiosis Law School Noida and Hyderabad will release at least three merit lists each. The total score out of which marks will be allotted are 100 – which consists of law entrance scores+PI-WAT scores and academic scores. Candidates scoring higher marks out of 100 will get a better rank in the merit list of SET Law 2019.

SET law syllabus 

Analytical reasoning: This section will include questions on Verbal Reasoning, Permutation and Combination, Blood Relations, Mixtures, Ratio and Proportion, Series, Number System, Time and Work, Mensuration, Clocks and Calendar, Profit- Loss and Discount, Coding-Decoding, Situation Based Decision Making, Number Series, Probability

Logical reasoning: For this section, candidates should prepare for topics such as Number Test, Series Test, Coding and Decoding, Odd One Out, Statement Arguments, Verbal Reasoning, Analogy, Statement Assumptions, Ranking, Questions on Relations, Syllogisms

General Knowledge: In this particular section, there will questions on current affairs (Current events in areas of Economics, Science, Sports, Places, Persons, Events of National and International importance, Books and Authors) and Static General Knowledge (Ecology, Science and technology, Environment, Geography, Polity, Economics, History- Ancient, Medieval, Modern and World, General Science)

Reading Comprehension: This section will contain passages and questions will be based on these passages. These questions are designed to check the candidate’s reading ability and command over the English language

Legal Reasoning: To prepare for this section, candidates are required to go through the basic topics of law such as - Indian Constitution, Indian Penal Code, Law of Torts, Indian Contract Act, Family Law and Legal Misc. (Intellectual Property Rights, Labour Laws, etc.)

How to prepare tips for SET Law 
 
•             You need speed to finish SET Law within prescribed time limit. Go through the topics in the SET Law information brochure and start with the ones that you are good at. Practise reasoning and mathematics problems by memorising formulas.

•             After each study session keep 1 hour for revision of topics learned/practised.

•             Make mathematics your strong suit, practise questions to solve them within time to increase efficiency. The trick here is to mug up math formulas by heart, so they come in handy while solving a problem.

•             Become smart by attempting questions that you are sure of first, then come to the questions you’re in doubt. But do attempt them anyway, remember negative marking is not a factor here. Therefore, try to attempt all questions .

•             Manage your time properly; give appropriate amount of time to each section. Try to improve your time by practicing as many online tests as possible. •             Studying in a stretch for hours can be tedious and hard and also not so good. Therefore, try to study at several times in regular sessions during a day. This will make learning easy and fun, also you will have enough time to brush up the already studied topics in between intervals.
 
•             It is very important to maintain proper health, so you don’t fall sick on the big day. Give your brain appropriate time to refresh itself. Don’t rush too much information into your head than its limit allows. Take it slow and steady. And get at least eight hours of sleep each night.
