Railway Recruitment Board RRB: Exam Pattern, Insights and Details



Every year Railway Recruitment Board releases a staggering number of vacancies for people who wish to work for Indian Railways. RRB is also the largest recruiter in India for government jobs and this year too, RRB has brought an ocean of opportunities for thousands of job aspirants. Indian Railways has started the recruitment drive for the posts of Assistant Loco Pilots, Technicians, Station Master, TC and RRB 21 Regions (ALP, Technician Grade 3). The recruitment will be done throughout India on the basis of a written test, as per the official notification released by RRB, a single application will be required to submit which should be common to all the posts announced. And this is just the tip of the iceberg, RRB will also announce around one lakh vacancies for RRC Safety Category shortly. Candidates who have understood the eligible criteria and meet all the requirements prescribed by RRB then these candidates will be applicable for the selection process for ALP and Technician Posts. The selection process is comprised of four steps; written test CBT, viva test, medical fitness test and lastly document verification. To Prepare well, candidates are advised to attempt RRB Exam previous year question papers.

RRB ALP/Technician: Exam Pattern

The exam will be objective type with six sections containing a total of 120 questions. This is going to be an online exam, CBT or Computer Based Test. The total duration of the exam will be 90 minutes.

  • The General Awareness section will have 25 questions for 25 marks.

  • The Arithmetic section will have 20 questions for 20 marks.

  • The General Intelligence section will have 5 questions for 5 marks.

  • The Reasoning section will have 10 questions for 10 marks.

  • The General Science section will have 30 questions for 30 marks.

  • The Technical Ability section will have 30 questions for 30 marks.

Selection Process for ALP and Technician:

  • Candidates who have understood the eligible criteria and meet all the requirements prescribed by RRB then these candidates will be applicable for the selection process for ALP and Technician Posts.
