SSC JHT Recruitment: SSC Junior Hindi Translator Exam Pattern, Details and Insights



Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the official notification for Junior Hindi Translator (JHT). The interested candidates can apply for the same on the official website from April 17 to May 16, 2020, which is currently postponed. As per the eligibility goes, the candidate needs to hold a Master’s Degree in any discipline with Hindi and English as compulsory subjects from recognized university/institution. The selection procedure will consist of two papers- Paper 1 and Paper 2. The paper 1 will have 100 questions of General Hindi and 100 questions of General English which will be an objective-type paper and computer-based test. The paper 2 will be of 200 marks having questions of Translation and Essay. Both papers will be of 2 hours each.

The candidates applying for the recruitment of Junior Hindi Translator post conducted by SSC should go through the eligibility criteria.

  • Nationality / Citizenship: The candidate must be a citizen of India

  • Age of the candidate: Maximum Age: 30 years

SSC JHT Recruitment: Exam pattern 

As SSC Junior Hindi Translator Recruitment Exam will be conducted in two parts: Paper 1 and Paper 2, the exam pattern for both papers is different. Paper 1 is Computer-Based Test and Paper 2 is Written Test.

  • Paper 1 Exam Pattern:

  • Online test (CBT), i.e., Paper 1 will be of 200 marks.

  • The exam will have 200 MCQs type questions.

  • The total duration of the exam will be 120 minutes.

  • Sections in the exam: Two

    • General Hindi for 100 marks.

    • General English for 100 marks.

  • ​​Marking scheme: 0.25 marks will be deducted for each wrong answer and 1 mark will be allotted for each right. If a question is left blank, i.e. no answer is marked by the candidate; there will be no penalty for that question.

  • Paper 2 Exam Pattern:

  • ​Subjective Paper, i.e., Paper 2 will be of 200 marks.

  • The total duration of the exam will be 120 minutes

  • Sections in the exam: Two

    • Translation.

Preparation tips for SSC JHT Recruitment Online Exam

  • You need to finish two sections of the SSC JHT Exam within 120 minutes, which means you need speed with accuracy in order to attempt 200 questions in total. The more you practice, the better chances you have of acing this exam.

  • Remember negative marking is a factor here. Therefore, try not to attempt questions that put you in doubt.

  • Manage your time properly; give an appropriate amount of time to each section. Try to improve your time by practicing as many online tests as possible.
