  • Firstly go through the complete syllabus of GATE exam.Then study the topics from standard books , you can also watch nptel lectures to understand some topics that you are unable to understand from the book. Now, the most thing, that is Practice. To get a good rank you need to practice a lot of questions to improve accuracy and speed.And solve past year questions..

  • You can prepare at home if u really want to be serious in prepartion  because it is not easy to get. First of all look at syllabus, take previous gate papers and make sure about cutoff marks.

  • Go through the syllabus first of all identify the subjects which carry the bulks marks, start preparing with the ones that carry the highest marsk and most cominq questionsin the exam. Solve past year questions and mocks tests available on many sites which gives you an idea of what you need to know which you dont know after reading your concepts and where were you stand "Are you really ready to give the GATE exam or still not ready ?" All the thing is you need to do lots of practise by making proper schedule..
