  • Candidates preparing for GATE CSE should follow these rules
    Candidates must attempt questions carefully.
    Candidates must revise their school-based concepts.
    Take online mock tests to know your strengths and weaknesses.
    Candidates must practice placement papers and mock tests to prepare well.

  • First step towards preparing for any exam is
    Go through the official syllabus
    See previous year questions
    This will give you an idea about subjects you have to study and what kind & level of questions are asked in exam.
    Next most of you may have a doubt
    Coaching or No Coaching
    This depends on you. What i mean by this is that if you have your basics cleared, there is no need to join coaching. Sharpen your concepts by studying weak areas form standard text books.
    What if basics aren’t cleared ?
    Then you have two options. First, use either NPTEL or other top institutions free video lectures . Secondly, join a good coaching. But even if you join coaching for some subjects like computer networks, computer organizations etc you should read standard books.
    Which books to follow ?
    How to prepare?
    If you have already studied a subject for semester exam or you have a rough idea about that subject, then look at previous year questions. Why? This will give you an idea about what is asked in GATE CS paper and you can filter out important concepts from exam point of view. After this study some topics from standard text books and then use below sites for question practice and revision

    Join a test series or not?
    Joining a test series is extremely important. Why?

    GATE CS 2018-19 Syllabus

    each section is containing several marks.

    Keep a Handbook containing important formulae for ready reference. This handbook can be pretty useful during the last days before the exam as a quick reckoner for calculations.

    Also make it a habit to take short notes on all topics that you have been studying. These will be pretty useful when you need to do quick revision during the last days leading up to the exam

    Make sure you give Mathematics and General Aptitude equal weight. Apart from contributing 15 % each to the total marks, the sections are scoring. So, if you score well in these two sections it can push up your overall GATE score.

  • There is no need to worry about the preparation . The key point is you should check the syllabus of the GATE , you should prepare about the programming languages questions. The key points in the preparation is to learn many topics in the grace subjects and you should also concentrate on your favouriate subject to improve more to get good marks. And also learn reasoning and aptitude methods.

  • Key points of GATE exam pattern :
    The question paper will be of 3 hours
    There will be 65 questions of total 100 marks
    Question types will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQ) and Numerical Answer Type (NAT) Questions.
    There is negative marking for MCQs, though not for NAT questions
    The question paper will three parts – General Aptitude, Engineering Mathematics, and Subject-specific part
